Exclusive! kanye west karate boy

Kanye West used to perform karate on the streets for cash.

The US rapper lived in China as a child and said he used to hustle for pocket money.

West claimed he often put on impromptu martial arts displays in the street for extra money and loved every minute of it.

He revealed: “When I was little, my mom took a job over in China, and I used to do karate demonstrations for pennies.

“To be honest it was pretty entertaining for me, and I used to spend what I earned on ice-cream.”

Although West enjoyed performing the unusual hustle, the hip-hop star claims his mother used to reprimand him for taking cash of people less fortunate than himself.

He added to Britain’s NME magazine: “My mother was like, ‘How can you ask for money from these poor Chinese people?’ I guess I was a hustler in fifth grade, entertaining people.”

Looks as though
Mary J. Blige made Santa's nice list.

The queen of hip-hop soul easily held off strong challenges from
Jamie Foxx and Notorious B.I.G. to lead the Christmas album chart.

Blige's The Breakthrough stuffed 727,000 stockings for the week ended Sunday, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her third chart-topper features such hot producers as Dr. Dre and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am and guest vocals by the likes of Bono, Jay-Z and
Raphael Saadiq. The Breakthrough also features a reworking of 50 Cent's "Hate It or Love It" called "MJB Da MVP" as well as the lead single "Be Without You."

The Oscar-winning Foxx entered at number two, selling nearly 598,000 copies of his J Records debut, Unpredictable. The disc features several old pals, such as Twista and Kanye West, as well as a title track appearance by Ludacris, with whom Foxx collaborated on the current Disturbing Tha Peace single, "Georgia."

Finally, the rapper Source magazine called the greatest emcee of all time, Notorious B.I.G., sold nearly 438,000 copies of Duets: The Final Chapter for the number three spot. When Biggie Smalls was gunned down in 1997, it was just two weeks before his second album's release, and unlike nemesis Tupac Shakur, Biggie didn't have much unreleased material in the archives. As a result, his posthumous releases have been minimal, and Duets is said to be the last.

The notorious one's swan song features an all-star guest list that includes Eminem, Diddy, Jay-Z, Snoop, Ludacris and Nelly. Biggie's disc also features a duet with fellow belt-busting rapper Big Pun.

Coincidentally, Biggie got his first break with a guest appearance on a remix of Blige's "Real Love." Blige repaid the favor by recording a track for Duets--she also appears on Foxx's Unpredictable, giving her the rare feat of appearing on the top three albums this week.

Meanwhile,
Mariah Carey's huge comeback continues as The Emancipation of Mimi overtook 50 Cent's The Massacre as the top-selling disc of 2005. Mimi finished the week at number six with 290,000 in sales, giving the disc 4.87 million since dropping in April; Fiddy's album has tallied 4.83 million.

NEW CD"S spring 2006 -I CANT WAIT- Janet and Prince

Janet Jackson did not have a secret child with husband James DeBarge 18 years ago, nor did she give that daughter to her sister Rebbie to raise as her own.

Janet's longtime producer Jimmy "Jam" Harris says it's not true, and that they've all had a laugh about it in the studio while working on Jackson's new album.

"Do the math," he says. "If Janet had a child 18 years ago, it was while we were working on the "Control" album. I would have known if she was pregnant, and she wasn't."Harris and partner Terry Lewis are currently producing Janet's new album, set for early 2006. It's been almost two years since Janet and Justin Timberlake experienced a "wardrobe malfunction" during the Super Bowl half-time show. The result was an overreaction felt 'round the world and still reverberating. It was as if Queen Victoria herself had been in the stands.

Everyone was punished, most especially Janet, whose album "Damita Jo" collapsed under the weight of the scandal and her brother's infamous trials and tribulations.

But now, lo and behold, here comes a new Janet for the spring of 2006. She's agreed to take an acting role in a new movie called "Tennessee" starring Macaulay Culkin and produced by Lee Daniels ("Monster's Ball"). The movie may tie in with the new album, which Janet is currently recording with Harris and Lewis at their new studio in Los Angeles.

For the new album and the movie, Janet is doing something unusual: She's learning to play the guitar.

Prince, who has put out most of his music on his own record label over the past decade, is aligning himself with a major label once again.
The 47-year-old superstar has signed a deal with Universal Records to release his upcoming album, "3121," early next year. A press conference was scheduled Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Also Tuesday, VH1 and its affiliated networks, including Tempo and VH1 Soul, premiered the singer's new video, "Te Amo Corazon (I Love You Sweetheart)," directed by Salma Hayek.
VH1 will also make the song available on its Vspot broadband channel and VH1 Mobile.
