MIKE J will be BACK 2008!

IT’S the comeback the world has been waiting for – from behind the sofa.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s first studio album since 2001 is on the way, and there is a musical dream team lined up to support it.

I can reveal hip-hop god KANYE WEST is behind material for the fallen king of pop. Last night the multi-talented Kanye admitted: “I’m working on stuff for Michael Jackson.

“If I like a person’s outlet or what a person brings to the table, then I’ll speak to them.”

Kanye’s a very busy boy at the moment. His Graduation album stuffed bitter rival 50 CENT’s Curtis and went to No1 last month on both sides of the Atlantic.

But he’s not resting on his laurels: “I’ve been in the lab already,” he said. “You’re already producing for other people and you've still got to promote yourself.”

Jacko sent a message to his fan club yesterday teasing them about an imminent album announcement — it will be his first all-new effort since Invincible six years ago.

Exciting

Since then he has been cleared on child abuse charges, seen his personal finances go through the wringer and — we thought — put his career on hold.

Jacko told fans: “I’ve been really busy lately. Soon I will be sharing exciting and surprising news with you.

“Your continued love and support means so much to me.

“I really love and appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart.”

Kanye is joined by other hip-hop megastars including BLACK EYED PEAS frontman WILL.I.AM and singer/songwriter NE-YO on Jacko’s back-up squad.

To be fair it sounds like he’s assembling the A-Team. At one point SIMON FULLER looked like being the one to resurrect the gloved one’s musical career, but the SPICE GIRLS guru then pulled the plug.

Will.i.am revealed he hung up the phone on Jacko when he called to ask him to work on the new material.

He said: “Michael called me out of the blue and I just didn’t believe it was him.

“I was like, ‘Come on, who is this, how did you get my number? Stop playing around.’ He said, ‘No it’s really me, it’s Michael.’

“I still didn’t believe it was him and was like, ‘Dude, seriously, I got to go.’” You can’t blame him. It’s a reaction that most of us would share if we heard Jacko on the other end of the line.

The album is expected to be released early next year.

It has been billed as Off The Wall for today’s generation, featuring plenty of up-tempo dance grooves.
