Rihanna has sold more digital tracks in the United States than any other artist in history. Ever.

The Nielsen SoundScan’s statistics show that towards the end of 2011, Rihanna had sold more than 47 million tracks.

Though the Black Eyed Peas have the biggest-selling digital track to date with “I Gotta Feeling,” and Adele‘s “21″ nabbed the spot of biggest-selling digital album, it is Rihanna who scored the top title overall as the highest-selling digital artist of all time.

Halle Berry is ready to give marriage a try for the third time. The actress is engaged to her longtime beau and "Dark Tide" co-star Olivier Martinez.

A rep for jewelry designer Gurhan confirmed the engagement toPeople.com. The actor reportedly asked his lady love to marry him over the holidays by presenting her with a diamond-and-emerald engagement ring designed by Gurhan. Reps for the actors have yet to comment on the engagement.

Sources told Usmagazine.com that although the Oscar-winner was not considering marrying again, she changed her mind when she met the French actor. She "had given up on being married, but she trusts Olivier. He makes her feel safe. He's a keeper!"

The pair made headlines earlier this month when Berry was spotted wearing the Gurhan-designed ring. Radar Online posted a photo of the actress donning her new bling on New Year's Day.

"Halle has found her true soul mate in Olivier and it's only a matter of time before they tie the knot," a friend says of the couple, who reportedly will marry this October. "She's madly in love and knows she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Olivier has been the rock that Halle has never had in any of her relationships."

Berry was previously married to baseball player David Justice and later Eric Benet. She broke up with model Gabriel Aubry in 2010 after nearly five years together. The magazine’s embarrassed editor took to Facebook to apologize profusely to the singer and her fans. Editor-in-chief, Eva Hoeke, wrote: “First: thanks for all your responses. We are of course very fed up over this and especially very shocked. However I’m glad that we’re engaging in a dialogue on this page — not everybody does that. Thanks for this. Other than that I can be brief about this: this should have never happened. Period.”

Hoeke also implied that the racist insults toward Rihanna were meant as a joke, especially since Rihanna, and blacks in general, use the most degrading terms when referring to ourselves.

Brandy – Silent Night (full) – listen
This track got posted a little while ago, but here’s the final version of Brandy’s track, “Silent Night,” produced by Kadis & Sean. Brandy is presently in the studio working on the follow up to her last album, Human. No word on the album title or a solid date, but Brandy has been Ustreaming with Sean Garrett, and hopes to release a single at the top of 2012.

Kevin Cossom has been trying to boost his visibility. Doing interviews and tracks leaking, and he also mentioned that he’s working on a second mixtape, Hook vs. Bridge 2. There was this odd but super cool sound that rolled off Heavy D's tongue that we all tried to emulate. It was his melodic calling card; it was the key thing he inserted into Heavy D & the Boyz' "We Got Our Own Thang."

Its significance was cemented in pop culture when he guest-starred in a 1989 episode of one of the era's hottest sitcoms, "A Different World." He was set to be a featured performer at a fundraiser on the show, and the pompous, pretentious Whitley wasn't having it.

"I'll tell you what lacks melody is that diddly diddly diddly diddly diddly dee," she drawled, displaying her disgust for hip-hop, completely unaware that she was, in fact, bemoaning Heavy D himself.

Heav, playing a caricature of himself (and an old junior high friend of Dwayne Wayne), laughed and shrugged it off. We all chuckled with the laugh track as Whitley realized her mistake and Heavy showed her the right way to do the thing that had all of us — in the 'hood, in the 'burbs and in the sticks — trying to copy him every time we heard one of his wicked, uptempo tracks. We next see him onstage, doing that infamous Heavy D shake, performing the track "Somebody for Me," the single that questioned — and longed for — a woman's affections for the man who dubbed himself the Overweight Lover.

Heavy D, born Dwight Arrington Myers, died Tuesday (November 8) at an L.A. hospital. He was a young 44.

TMZ is reporting that a 911 call was placed from his Beverly Hills home around 11:25 a.m. PT to report an unconscious male on the walkway. When help arrived, the entertainer was conscious and speaking and was taken to the hospital.

He died shortly thereafter.

Heav was that kind of touchable performer. We felt comfortable with his Overweight Lover nickname — he was the big guy who could move. His size never stopped him. He moved in ways that intimidated the slimmest dude in the crowd.

He was smooth, dapper and celebrated the around-the-way-girl through song; his music helped soundtrack 10th-grade dances near and far, and his colorful, danceable and at times sensitive brand of hip-hop clearly proved to be wildly influential to new-millennium household names like Diddy or Drake.

In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who came up after Heavy D that doesn't cite him as an influence — and if they didn't say it out loud, their showmanship certainly was a giveaway.

He brought professionalism to live hip-hop shows, and because he fancied a variety of music and musical stylings, his shows were thought-out, deliberate and defined all that New Jack Swing embodied.

Heavy brought the bounce to hip-hop and his smooth delivery made every woman look at big boys with new eyes. He was sexy — so were his lyrics, and so was his style. He was one of few rappers to collaborate with Michael Jackson (he rapped on "Jam"), and we all applauded when he linked up with Janet Jackson for an "Alright" remix.

His death is tragic for a number of reasons. Until last month, we hadn't seen Heavy perform live onstage in 15 years. When he hit the stage back in October for the BET Hip Hop Awards, he showed the young guys that he could still swing with the new New Jacks.

He also showed off an amazing 135-pound weight loss, but his hip-hop moniker was still fitting for a guy who gave so much to a musical genre that continues to shape pop culture.

Even past his hit-producing hip-hop prime, Heavy continued to be a force in entertainment. He'd often dabbled in film and television, and most recently. we saw him in an episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and the just-released "Tower Heist."

Some of hip-hop's biggest luminaries tweeted their affections for the rapper Tuesday. It was undeniable what he brought to the genre.

He was one of the biggest who ever did it — and he got there because he did his own thang.

After nearly six weeks of testimony and several gasp-inducing courtroom moments, the jury in the involuntary manslaughter trial against formerMichael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray rendered a guilty verdict Monday (November 7) after almost nine hours of deliberation.
The verdict came after 49 witnesses took the stand and the prosecution presented often-bruising testimony against Murray, a cardiologist with clinics in Texas and Las Vegas who was recruited in 2009 by Jackson to help the then-50-year-old star stay healthy in the run-up to his planned 50-date comeback tour, This Is It.

The prosecution brought a long list of medical experts and emergency-room doctors to the stand to testify that Murray had not followed proper procedure in dealing with Jackson when the singer was in distress on the morning of June 25, 2009. They also presented evidence that the care Murray provided for Jackson in the weeks and months leading up to that fateful morning were substandard or outside the bounds of legal and ethical requirements. The witnesses concluded that Murray lacked the proper monitoring equipmentto administer the surgical anesthetic propofol to Jackson, an off-label use of the intravenously delivered drug that was reportedly employed to help chronic insomniac Jackson get to sleep.
Investigators found that Murray ordered nearly 4 gallons of propofol in his treatment regimen for Jackson and administered the drug inside the singer's rented home, a practice that all the prosecution experts said was unheard of. Jurors also heard testimony about how Murray left Jackson's bedroom for a period after providing him with propofol and spent his time making calls and sending texts to a former girlfriend. When he realized Jackson was in distress, Murray gave the pop star CPR on a bed, a decision that also deviated from the suggested method requiring a hard surface under the patient.
Murray was additionally faulted for waiting more than 20 minutes to call 911, not keeping proper records and failing to tell the paramedics and ER doctors that he had given Jackson propofol.
While prosecution witnesses claimed Murray acted with "gross negligence" in treating Jackson, the physician's own team of lawyers countered with astring of defense witnesses who called into question claims made by Jackson's bodyguard that he requested that staffers hide bottles of propofol before he dialed 911. Other character witnesses testified to the generous, attentive nature of Murray's medical practice, while expert defense witnesses cast doubt on the theories about Jackson's death provided by the prosecution's star witness, Dr. Steven Shafer.
Murray, who was slated to make $150,000 a month to care for Jackson, had pleaded not guilty to the single felony charge and is now facing four years in prison. But new sentencing laws in California aimed at mandatorily reducing state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he is likely to be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced further.
He also still faces a civil lawsuit brought by MJ's father, Joseph Jackson, which seeks financial restitution. Both Joseph Jackson and Michael's mother, Katherine, were on hand to hear Monday's verdict, along with several of the singer's siblings and a throng of sign-waving fans gathered in support of both Jackson and Murray.

Jobs and the products he masterminded at Apple (AAPL) created a world in which a generation of young people has grown up knowing that the i's have it. iPods. iTunes. iPhones. iPads. Anyone born since the mid-1990s has lived a life influenced from the beginning by Jobs in ways subtle and not.

For as long as the iGeneration can remember, an infinite series of mobile devices has emanated from 1 Infinite Loop, providing kids with the tools to connect and collaborate with one another while expressing themselves to the world -- a feat that can be awkward and difficult for any adolescent to pull off.

"You know how they say, 'Oh, the kids are the future,' " Iberys Iglesias, 16, asks? "He's given us things to better our future."

Iglesias, a junior at Cupertino's Homestead High School, which happens to be Jobs' alma mater, says the Apple co-founder has given her generation the tools to "go more full out."

It's not often that an iconic force comes along and changes everything for an entire generation. The Beatles, for Jobs and his boomer cohort. And now Jobs, for

Iglesias and her iGeneration cohort.

It makes sense that teens would embrace Jobs and the products he helped produce. Jobs was a lot of things. But he was not a phony. Kids embrace genuineness. They can smell a pretender a mile away.

They also gravitate to those who understand that things don't have to be done the way they've always been done; that in fact the only way to move forward is to ignore the confines of conformity.

Of course, the connection starts with the products, which are undeniably cool in the eyes of a set for which cool really matters. Many in the iGeneration started school about the time computer labs were being outfitted with the fruity-colored iMacs that Jobs introduced after his 1996 return to Apple. Next came an iPod or an iPhone for a birthday present or graduation gift. And then came iTunes and the era of listening to whatever music you wanted to, whenever you wanted to.

Motown legend Nickolas Ashford -- part of the singer-songwriter duo Ashford and Simpson -- who penned several iconic hits, including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" -- died yesterday after a battle with throat cancer.

In addition to "Ain't No Mountain", Ashford co-wrote several songs with his wife Valerie Simpson -- including, "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", "Solid (As a Rock)," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)" and "I'm Every Woman."

The Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted Ashford and Simpson in 2002 -- calling them "one of the most prolific and versatile musical couples in recording history."

Ashford was 70.

Ron Artest, the 31-year-old NBA basketball player for the Lakers, is changing his name to Metta World Peace.

The eccentric move was revealed by celebrity news site TMZ.com but does not take effect until August 26, giving Artest time to make the required public declarations in his local newspaper.

It's about star power, you know, it's all about that positive energy, I've been doing so many positive things lately," he said.

"It's not about changing my image, I always tell people I'll never change, I'm still the same dude from the 'hood.

"But it's about doing different things and being inspirational, I love being inspirational."

Artest joined the Lakers in 2009, on a five-year deal worth $33 million that has proved something of a personal and sporting renaissance for the fiery player.

"I want to thank my doctor ... my psychiatrist, she really helped me relax a lot," he told a television reporter on court.

"Thank you so much, it's so difficult to play ... there's so much commotion going in the play-offs, and she helped me relax."

Artest also told TMZ he chose Metta - a Buddhist term that means loving kindness - in his name because he wanted his fans to think about what it could mean.

"(We) wanted people to research it, and actually see what it means," he said.

La Toya Jackson is convinced her brother Michael was murdered. From the bottom of her heart, murdered. And she knows who did it. The second half of Jackson's memoir, 'Starting Over,' deals with her gradual reconciliation with her famous family, specifically Michael. The outspoken singer-actress pulled no punches when PopEater caught up with her to discuss her controversial theories about the King of Pop's death and her belief that Dr. Conrad Murray was just a "fall guy" in an insidious conspiracy to kill. Why? To attain the bottomless pot of gold that is MJ's song catalog. And who told her this was going to happen? Michael. She tells us she's fighting this fight, even if it's unpopular within her family, because she wants what's best for Michael's three orphans. "Michael always used to say, 'La Toya I want to leave everything to my kids,' and here they have absolutely nothing," she said.

You think Michael was murdered.
Yes, I do. I believe that from the bottom of my heart. The people that he told me were going to murder him are behind his murder. They know that. They know who they are. They're controlling his estate now.

You believe it was over his publishing catalog.
That's what he told me. Within a week of his death people he had eradicated from his life completely, came in lurking, asking questions about the catalog, speaking to the attorney who controls the catalog. My brother Michael was clean (when he died), he had no drugs in his system, he was leading a good life. He was unhappy with the way people were treating him. The coroner said there was nothing in him except for the propofol which was pumped in his body and it was enough to kill an elephant.

Dr. Murray was simply the fall guy, there were people behind it. It was a conspiracy and they know that. I want to have a one-on-one with Dr. Murray. I would love to sit down and talk with him.

You say the English tour was fishy.
First of all he told me he never would do a tour again because he said they would assassinate him if he was on stage. He finally agreed to ten shows which he didn't want to do but he agreed and he wakes up overnight and there's 50 shows and they told him he had to do them. They knew he wasn't capable of them, they knew he wasn't healthy enough. He had a kidney problem, he was extremely thin, he was always freezing. They knew what they were doing. This isn't what I'm thinking, these are facts.

How does your family feel about you saying this?
When you lose a loved one, everybody is so hurt and there were some that said, 'Oh he's dead, let it be and move on,' but no, I need to find out what happened. My mother and father have always been for me and on my side and telling me they're so proud of me, to keep fighting. I love that, it gives me the tenacity to keep fighting and for his children. Michael always used to say, 'La Toya I want to leave everything to my kids,' and here they have absolutely nothing.

How are his children doing?
They're doing very well thank you. I'm very proud of them. It was my mother's decision to unmask them. She felt like she wanted them to be normal. However I understand why Michael did it. He wanted his kids to have the freedom to go out and not be recognized when they weren't with him.

(EW.com) -- If show business were high school (and isn't it, really?), Beyoncé would be a front-runner for valedictorian.

She's a class act on and off the charts, a can-do girl who shares her gifts with everyone while keeping her beyond-fabulous life -- the Obamas on speed dial, Jay-Z at the dinner table -- largely to herself.

Over the course of her three previous records, she's matured from Destiny's Child-hood into a formidable solo hitmaker with two of pop music's most transcendent chart-toppers, ''Crazy in Love'' and ''Single Ladies,'' tucked in the pocket of her Deréon jeans.

"I don't know much about guns/But I, I've been shot by you,'' she sings on ''1+1,'' as if the love bullet were actually breaking skin. Vocally, she's never sounded better -- throaty and precise -- but some other songs here just aren't her equal.

While those efforts at least aim high, a few of "4"'s lesser tracks feel like they were unsuccessfully bred in studio captivity for mass consumption. The familiar lite-FM bombast of ''Best Thing I Never Had'' proves her 2006 hit ''Irreplaceable'' is just that.

And when the 29 year old mimics Luther Vandross and Diana Ross on the charmingly goofy one-two of ''Love on Top'' and ''Rather Die Young,'' she gets lost in her idols' polyester-swathed shadows.

Unsurprisingly, Beyoncé is at her best when she sounds like no one but herself. She takes her trusty freakum dress out of mothballs for the marching-band funk of ''Countdown,'' which includes such joy-inducing non-lyrics as ''Me and my boof, and my boof boof riding.''

And the terrific ''End of Time'' seethes with off-balance harmonies, MJ-style "Off the Wall" horns and a bionic Bo Diddley beat, all while Bey howls her eternal love to everyone and no one in particular.

It's exactly the kind of genre-busting risk that few other current pop stars would even attempt, let alone pull off flawlessly with a no-big-thing shrug. With more moments like that, "4" might have been an album fully worthy of her talent. As it is, though, even star students get the occasional B.

In what may be the biggest news since September 11 2001, and a turning point in the global war on terrorism, U.S. President Barack Obama announced that the 9/11 mastermind, Osama Bin Laden, is dead.

According to multiple news organizations, the United States has the dead body of Osama Bin Laden in its custody. CNN reports that the U.S. had a sample of Bin Laden’s DNA on ice for just this moment in history.

Some reporters knew about this critical development all day Sunday , but media organizations kept the news under wraps until the body was positively identified.

Obama requested network air time for the 10 p.m. hour on Sunday night to make the stunning announcement. Coincidentally, that time fell during the broadcast of Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC. The network interrupted its programming just as Trump was deciding who to fire. LOL!!!!

Two American presidents before Obama had tried and failed to capture and/or kill Bin Laden. It was 8 years ago today that president George Bush declared the Iraq war “mission accomplished.”

But 4,000 U.S. fatalities later in Iraq, Bin Laden still had eluded capture — until the USA completed its mission .

American forces are expected to release a picture of Osama Bin Laden’s dead body so that the Arab world has no doubt that the leader of Al Qaeda is dead. But Donald Trump probably wans to ask for more proof.

Washington (CNN) — The White House released copies of President Barack Obama’s original long-form birth certificate Wednesday, seeking to put an end to persistent rumors that he was not born in the United States.

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness,” Obama told reporters at the White House.
“Normally I would not comment on something like this,” the president said. But the country has “enormous challenges” that it will not be able to effectively meet “if we’re distracted.”
The president ripped what he characterized as a recent focus on “side shows” and “carnival barkers.”
Obama released a shorter, legally binding “certificate of live birth” in 2008, but many opponents of the president continued to assert he was born overseas.
The administration had to make a special request from the state of Hawaii to get the long-form birth certificate released, White House legal counsel Bob Bauer said. Typically, the state only releases what’s called a certificate of live birth when people request a birth certificate.

While the president has tried to make light of the controversy, the question has remained political red meat for some of his critics. A recent CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll showed that nearly 75% of Americans believe Obama was definitely or probably born in the United States.

More than four in 10 Republicans, however, believe he probably or definitely was not born in America.
